Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal

“This is a great hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. On site bar and restaurant although we only had breakfast here. The rooms are a little small but they are comfortable. The location is great if you are using the train or airport. It is a little walk for sight seeing. Overall a great place.”

“We loved our stay here and the room was lovely and classic looking. To address some of the one star ratings from others - you have to pay extra for a canal view room and at least for me, that was clearly advertised. We did not have a canal view, but the rooftop bar does ans that was enough for us. Location was great, quick walk up and over the big steps from the train station. Good service, room was clean. Only complaints were really minor: shower was a bit small (it's Europe... ) and the AC was a bit weak and counterintuitively we had to turn the temp up before it would turn on. For example, I think we turned the temp UP to 23C them the AC would kick on a bit. If we turned it down to 21C, it would turn off.”

“I am really confused that some people left less than favorable reviews. Our room was quite large and clean. The decor was consistent with old Italy, which added to the charm. The staff was not only accommodating but very friendly. The location was perfect and the view of the canal was unbeatable.”
